Before the soil freezes, seize the opportunity to plant your blooming onions. The plants will put out roots before winter sets in and acclimatise themselves to the location. The next few days are also the right time for planting tulips, daffodils and snowdrops.
If you plant the more sensitive varieties and species, remember to protect them with brushwood.
